Shobi Khan
Chief executive, Canary Wharf Group
Khan is chief executive of Canary Wharf Group. He has worked in the real estate industry for more than 30 years and joined Canary Wharf Group in October 2019. Prior to his appointment, Khan was president and chief operating officer of General Growth Properties , a S&P 500 real estate investment trust specialising in retail property. He joined in 2011 and was promoted to the role of president in December 2016. Between 2008 and 2011, he was US chief investment officer and Partner at Bentall Kennedy, the global real estate investment adviser. Earlier in his career, he served as senior vice-president of investments at Equity Office Properties Trust (a S&P REIT), where he helped complete more than $20bn of global property and merger and acquisition transactions at EOP. He held direct responsibility for all US investment activity and served on the company’s management group and investment committees. He led the underwriting of $16bn in office REIT mergers involving Beacon, Cornerstone and Spieker, among others. He was involved with the company’s $39bn sale to Blackstone in 2007.
