As chief executive, Boyd leads the Government Property Agency in transforming the way the government’s office and logistics property portfolios are managed. The GPA is growing rapidly with currently 7m sq ft of property under its management. The GPA is transforming the future of work in the civil service, improving the workplace experience for civil servants across the UK, leading the largest commercial office programme in the United Kingdom, working towards halving carbon emissions from government offices, and saving billions for the taxpayer. A Yorkshireman who originally qualified as an engineer, Boyd is a collaborator, innovator and leader of change. Prior to the GPA, he was HMRC’s estates director delivering 13 major office buildings, planning the successful drawdown of a nationwide PFI, and shrinking the size of the estate by two-thirds. He also served in the British Army including leading the Army’s in-house engineering design and project management consultancy, and as its director of infrastructure.
